From thread to treasure

  1. Drawn by hand

Every piece starts as a pencil line in a sketchbook in India, refined until the form feels inevitable.

  2. Printed layer by layer

A single thread of plant-based PLA, laid down for up to thirty hours. You can see every layer when the light hits it.

  3. Finished by hand

Sanded, smoothed and inspected by one pair of hands. No two finishes are quite the same.

  4. Tested in the dark

Each lamp is switched on in a dark room and checked for an even, honey-warm glow before it leaves.

  5. Wrapped to be remembered

Tissue, a rigid keepsake box and a handwritten card. Opening it should feel like a small ceremony.

The studio

Light, sculpted. In India.

Zohraé is a small design studio making sculptural lamps, vessels and keepsakes: printed layer by layer in plant-based PLA, then finished by hand.

01

Why light

The most beautiful rooms aren't lit, they're layered. A lamp is the one object that changes a room twice a day: a sculpture by daylight, and the warmest thing in the house after dark.

02

How we make

Each design begins as a pencil line in a sketchbook. It's printed as one continuous thread, sometimes for thirty hours, then sanded, smoothed and inspected by hand, and switched on in a dark room before it's ever boxed.

What we believe

  • Made to order, so there's no warehouse of unsold stock.
  • Honest materials, honestly described: PLA is a bioplastic made from plants, and we design every piece to be kept for years.
  • Packaging worth keeping, because the box is the first thing you touch.
